Festival de Country Music Mirande
July 13 - 17, 2005 |
|
|
Linda was the guest of honor at 2005's Festival de Country Music
Miranda, which is held each year in Miranda, France.
For a few days in July, Mirande, in Gascony
(South-West France), transforms itself into an American town. Over
105,000 people attended the Mirande Country Music Festival over 4 days in
2002 and it is now recognized as the first Country Music festival in
Europe.
In 1993 the little "bastide" town of
Mirande (pop. 4000) was looking for a way to "brighten up" the
festival season and different possibilities were explored with the aim of
attracting as many people as possible. Alain RIBAUT, a "Mirandais"
by birth and the Mayor's brother in law, launched the first 3 day Mirande
Country Music Festival. The site, the climate, the town of Mirande
and the surrounding countryside added to the fun-loving people and the
gastronomic pleasures of South-West France all form a mix which perfectly
corresponds to this style of American music.
Motivated by the challenge of this first
Festival, the inhabitants of Mirande formed the Mirande Country Music
Association in February 1993 which worked hard through to the following
July to witness a real success : 30,000 came to the event.
Since then the Mirande Country Music festival has
never looked back. The Festival stages Country Music concerts from 5
pm until dawn the following day. There are also hot-air balloon flights,
American cars, Harley-Davidsons, and endless other attractions and
activities for all the family. Over
200 stands, on both the festival site and in the centre of town, propose
numerous articles for sale including Indian and western clothing and, of
course, local gastronomic produce.
All these elements have contributed to installing a happy and warm
atmosphere where 7 to 77 year-olds brush shoulders in a convivial and
festive mood which unites all the family.
Today the Festival's success has contributed
enormously to the local economy and has enabled many full time jobs to be
created. The Festival staff and over 350 voluntary workers work all year
round to ensure the quality and good organization of the event which has
recently been awarded the Midi-Pyrenees Cultural Tourism Trophy.
This superb adventure is now 13 years old ! |

Fearless Women
Midlife Portraits |
Ask some women
their age, and they'll demur. Ask others, like Joni Mitchell or Cybill
Shepherd, and they'll take up a sword. In this inspirational book, 50
women ranging in age from their 40s to their 60s-including movie and
television personalities, musicians, and Olympic athletes-are presented in
stunning photographs holding a sword to symbolize their passionate and
courageous approach to aging. Their stories are told alongside the
pictures, capturing the experiences of the 38 million women of the Baby
Boom generation who are challenging the age barrier and living the second
half of their lives to the fullest.
Coauthors Nancy Alspaugh and Marilyn Kentz are
founders of the Fearless Aging movement, which encourages women to discard
outdated views of getting older and celebrate who they are today. Linda
Gray, Joan Lunden, Leeza Gibbons, Shari Belafonte, Erin Brockovich, and
Native American medicine woman Brooke Medicine Eagle are among the women
who share their feelings about how they have become wiser and more
powerful with age. The book concludes with an empty page for one final
woman: a place where her photo can be added and her story can be told. As
a tribute to a friend or loved one, this book is one of the best gifts a
fearless woman can receive. |
Most
recently, Linda has completed filming the Hallmark Channel's television movie "It's Murder,
Madam". This is the third in a series of four movies, based on
"McBride" starring John Larroquette. McBride (John Larroquette) is a
former cop-turned-defense lawyer with a penchant for taking on "lost
cause" cases. When a Hollywood madam is murdered,
McBride defends the wannabe actress and
unwitting
“escort” accused of the crime. It
aired on the Hallmark Channel on March 4, 2005. Check your local TV
guides for the times and channels for repeats in your area.

Linda Gray Guest Stars On Hallmark's “It’s Murder, Madam”
Five-time Emmy®
Award winner John Larroquette returns as tough-minded, tender-hearted
cop-turned-attorney, Mike McBride in “It’s Murder, Madam,” a Hallmark
Channel Mystery Movie franchise which premiered on the network, Friday,
March 4 (9/8c). McBride
also stars Marta DuBois (“L.A. Law”) as Detective Sgt. Roberta Hansen and
Matt Lutz (“Murder Without Conviction”) as Phil Newberry.
Created by mystery master Dean
Hargrove, the Emmy®
Award-winning executive producer of “Columbo,” McBride revolves around one of television’s most compelling new
characters – a rough-around-the-edges smooth-talker whose laid back lifestyle
belies a razor sharp mind and dogged determination to uncover the truth.
Detective Sgt. Roberta Hansen (DuBois)
is the no-nonsense plainclothes police detective who finds the flirtatious
McBride arresting, but skittish. McBride’s
young gumshoe partner, Phil Newberry (Lutz) is a gadget die-hard with the latest
techno wizardry to help McBride sniff out bad guys.
Jesse (Kuma) is McBride’s constant companion who remembers the days
when a dog with a good nose could do the same thing.
McBride only takes the hardest cases,
has a soft spot for the underdog, and possesses a unique ability to eliminate
potential suspects through flashbacks that place him squarely in the scene of
the crime.
In “It’s Murder,
Madam” an aspiring actress arrives in Los Angeles with dreams of fame and
fortune. But her life turns into a
nightmare when she discovers that the dating service she’s working for is an
escort service. Shocked and
furious, the naïve young woman goes to confront her employer – and is
arrested for the madam’s murder. Linda
Gray (“Dallas,” “Melrose Place”) guest stars as Victoria.
McBride
is a Hallmark Entertainment presentation. Robert
Halmi, Jr. and Larry Levinson are executive producers.
Dean Hargrove is creator and executive producer.
Nick Lombardo, Amy Goldberg and Michael Moran are co-executive producers.
Brian J. Gordon and Erik Olson are producers. Kevin Connor directed “It’s Murder, Madam.”
